Learning Disorder Screener 120

The Learning Disorder Screener 120 (LDS 120) for 5 to 19-years-old is an informal assessment tool designed to identify potential learning difficulties in children and adolescents. It covers the following subdomains of the learning process: listening (aural) skills, speaking (oral) skills, word knowledge, reading skills, reading comprehension skills, handwriting skills, spelling skills, written expression skills, numeracy skills, arithmetic operation skills, mathematical conceptualisation skills, and mathematical problem-solving skills.

The LDS 120 helps to pinpoint any areas of concern related to learning. Results from the screener can guide educators and parents in determining if further, more comprehensive assessments or interventions are needed to support the child’s educational success. The LDS 120 is developed by the Merlion Paediatric Therapy Clinic, Singapore, to provide the first line of assessment to identify those who may be at higher risk of in need of further formal evaluation.

The LDS 120 is an initial screener and can be used alongside other standardised assessment tools (e.g., SORT-3 for oral reading, TOWL-3 for written language, TOMA-3 for mathematics) or customised further for individualised treatment plan based on specific research or educational objectives.
